I know that there are many factors that come together in a great image. But Photography is "writing with light" and as such I enjoy inspiring photographers to put forth the little bit extra forethought and effort to create great images rather than take pictures.
Today's automatic cameras are so good in the hands of anyone, professional photographers must be able to manipulate light to create images that are clearly better. In most cases, off camera lighting is the answer. That is the one thing that professionals still have that amateur photo enthusiasts don't have built into their cameras.
Photoshop is great, but I don't want to fix an image even for a minute that I was done with in a fraction of a second. As an old school photographer, I had to learn how to get it right (without seeing the image till much later) and those photo principles still hold true 100% with digital photography, it's just easier to learn and experiment.
Please challenge me with your questions and ideas...
Thanks,
DJ
